Description : They are world’s third largest flightless bird endemic to South America. Males are polygynous and females are polyandrous. Males build the nest on the ground and incubate the eggs. Chicks are taken care by male for upto six months and even adopt other orphan Rhea chicks. Their diet consists mainly of broad-leafed plants, feeds on seeds, fruits and roots; as well as insects such as grasshoppers and small reptiles and rodents.
